Behavior Health Technician – School-Based Programs
Summary of Duties:
Provide therapeutic interventions and casework services based on the Re-Education philosophy for students in grades 9-12 who are referred to the behavioral health intervention model provided in the Oil City Area School District. This position will collaborate with school staff and assist students in attaining a more satisfactory social, emotional, or physical adjustment to their current situation. Clinically, the BHT is needed to utilize their education, training, judgment, and discretion to assist in the direction of the behavioral health intervention and groups.
Duties include: implementing school-based behavioral health treatment plans; casework services to include coordination of programs, activities, and systems available in the community and appropriate documentation of therapy and services provided; attend Re-ED, Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI), Response Ability Pathways (RAP) trainings to specifically achieve competency in these principles; leading and planning therapy and activity groups. This position follows the school district schedule with paid time off during the summer.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Abilities:
Education/ Work Experience-Must meet one of the following:
Be licensed in this Commonwealth as a behavior specialist
Have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults and a graduate degree in psychology, social work, education, or counseling from a college or university
Have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults and a graduate degree with at least nine credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work or counseling from a college or university
Completed a clinical or mental health direct service practicum and have a graduate degree with a least nine credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work, education, counseling or a related field from a college or university
Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the provision of behavioral health services and a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in, social work, psychology, education, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, or activities therapies
Have a high school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma and have completed a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List as evidenced by a certification that includes the name of the responsible trainer, who is certified as a BCBA or BCaBA
