Confidential Therapy for individuals of all ages, couples, and families.

For over 50 years Family Service & Children’s Aid Society (FSCAS) has been providing high quality, focused, and professional services to residents throughout Venango and Eastern Crawford Counties. We offer a variety of therapeutic services for individuals of all ages. Therapy is essentially a journey into bringing out the best in you. This includes finding and maximizing your strengths and also identifying and working on areas in which you’d like to improve. The clinicians (therapists) here will offer you their undivided attention and will listen, support, suggest, collaborate, coach, challenge, and sometimes even laugh with you.

Examples of the Counseling Services we offer:

  • Individual Therapy
  • Couples Therapy
  • Groups
  • Training/Presentations

Staff

All of the staff are licensed clinicians. They will spend the first couple of sessions getting to know the child, adolescent, or adult so that interventions and treatment can be individualized to meet the specific needs of the particular person. All interventions begin by looking at the strengths of the individual and building on those strengths. We design interventions that look at both the current challenge an individual may be facing as well as the underlying issues that are probably contributing to these challenges.

Areas of Expertise

Given the complexity of peoples’ lives, we specialize in a number of different areas. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Relationship Skills
  • Improving Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Managing Symptoms of Depression, Anxiety, and other Mood Disorders
  • Self-Awareness
  • Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Grief/Loss
  • Life Transitions

Trauma Informed and Holistic

Our clinicians are trauma informed, which means that they are aware of the complex impact of trauma (any perceived trauma) on a person’s mental health and how it shapes a person’s efforts to cope. A holistic approach is characterized by the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental, emotional and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of mental illness. The clinicians look at what’s happened in a person’s life that contributes to these symptoms instead of asking “what’s wrong?”

What you can expect

Our office is a welcoming place to be, with friendly staff who are willing to answer any of your questions. When you come for your first appointment, you and your clinician will spend time getting to know each other. You will be asked questions about your life and what brought you to therapy. You will develop goals together. We know that it takes time to feel comfortable talking, and will move at your pace.

Sessions typically range from 45-60 minutes in length. The initial session can run a little longer due to completing the required paperwork.

We accept most major health insurance plans. But if you do not have health insurance, the sliding fee scale will be used based on the Department of Health and Human Services Poverty Guidelines.

We accept school, court, agency, or self-referral. Call our Oil City office at (814) 677-4005 to schedule an intake appointment at our Oil City office or our Titusville office.
